Horner, Ph.D offer brief and long-term individual psychotherapy for adults and adolescents with wide-ranging issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma-related disorders, personality disorders, and problems in interpersonal relationships. They incorporate psychodynamic relational approaches (interpersonal, attachment-oriented, and object relations) and evidence-based psychotherapies including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Interpersonal Psychotherapy for Depression (IPT-D). Individual DBT Skills Coaching
Elizabeth B. Horner, LPC provides individual DBT skills coaching for adolescents and adults as a supplemental intervention to individual psychotherapy when needed. Group Psychotherapy & Skills Training Groups
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills training groups (Telehealth): Elizabeth B. Horner, LPC has been leading DBT skills training groups in Charlottesville since 2005 and works frequently with therapists in the community to supplement their client’s individual treatment with DBT skills training group. DBT is comprised of 4 modules including Mindfulness, Interpersonal Effectiveness, Distress Tolerance, and Emotion Regulation.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Graduate Group (Telehealth): Elizabeth B. Horner, LPC offers this group to individuals who have successfully completed all four modules of the DBT Skills Training Group. DBT Graduate Group provides ongoing support with practice and implementation of DBT skills to address current issues and problems and to ensure that DBT skills remain integrated into participants lives.
Women’s DBT Process Group (In-Person): This psychotherapy process group focuses on women’s issues, incorporating interpersonal support and application of DBT skills.

Elizabeth Horner, LPC, offers a 5-session in-person career counseling program aimed at holistically addressing the individual’s interests, aptitudes, and values, as they explore entry into the world of work and/or career transitions. Professional Wellness Program
Dr. Mark Horner & Elizabeth Horner, LPC, offer psychotherapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) services in an intensive outpatient treatment program designed to support professionals whose mental health issues are adversely impacting job performance and relationships in the workplace. The program is flexible and tailored to the needs of working professionals, but typically includes intensive (twice-weekly) individual psychotherapy sessions and weekly DBT skills training group. We work closely with local psychiatrists who can provide psychiatric consultation and medication management as needed. Intensive Treatment Program For Personality Disorders
Elizabeth Horner, LPC, & Dr. Mark Horner, LCP, provide specialty treatment services for individuals and families struggling with Borderline Personality Disorder. Our intensive program is comprised of twice-weekly individual psychotherapy incorporating interpersonal, attachment-oriented, and Transference-Focused Psychotherapy (TFP) interventions (provided by Dr. Horner), combined with weekly group skills training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (provided by Elizabeth Horner, LPC). DBT is a highly effective, evidence-based treatment for Borderline Personality Disorder, self-injurious behavior, and chronic suicidality. These services may be complemented as needed by couples and family therapy (provided by Elizabeth Horner, LPC). Psychiatric medication management is available and may be provided by local psychiatrists with whom we work closely.
